PML-N Not My Property: Maryam Reassures Abbasi In Model Town Meeting
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President Maryam Nawaz met with former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and said that leaders like him are the PML-N's "pride", a private TV channel reported on Friday.

The meeting refuted the notion that Abbasi had not acknowledged Maryam as the PML-N’s senior vice president.

Following her promotion last month as the party’s SVP, Abbasi announced his resignation from the top position, stating he did so to give the new leader "room" to operate without restriction.

As per sources, Maryam held a detailed conversation with Abbasi and assured him that the PML-N and its entire leadership had full confidence in him.

"I am your sister; I want to serve the party and the country under your guidance," the sources quoted Maryam as saying.

She assured Abbasi that everyone will work together for the benefit of the party under Nawaz Sharif's leadership. "Leaders like you are the pride of the party, and your sacrifices cannot be forgotten," Maryam said.

On the occasion, Abbasi told the PML-N senior vice president that he had dedicated everything to the party. He further said, "Nawaz Sharif is my leader, and Shehbaz Sharif's guidance has always been with me. I am a member of the PML-N because I love Nawaz Sharif."

He made it clear that he had not cut ties with the party and that he was still in contact with the PML-N chief and other top party officials.

It is pertinent to mention here that Abbasi decided to step down after Maryam was elevated as the party's senior vice-president and chief organiser by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is also the PML-N president.

He had told media persons: "I have resigned from my post, but I stand by the party and will always be a part of it."

The PML-N senior leader had said, "She [Maryam] needs space, if we are there, there will be disagreement, which is not suitable for anyone."

He added that when the new generation comes, old people have to enter a new role.
