PM Shehbaz Visits Quake-Hit Turkiye, Vows To Dispatch More Aid
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is on a two-day visit to quake-hit Turkiye, has reiterated Pakistan's support for the country and announced that more aid will be sent to victims of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake.

During a media talk at Adiyaman University, the premier said, "We have witnessed the immense destruction in Turkiye today with our own eyes,"

PM Shehbaz said, "I want to say that Pakistan has changed its strategy following my discussion with President Erdogan yesterday. Prior to this, we sent winterized tents, blankets, and supplies." "But now we'll just concentrate on fireproof winterized tents," he added.

He announced that he would arrive in Pakistan tonight and meet with every prospective local tent producer there. "I will meet with them and devise a detailed plan for the prompt production of premium, fire-resistant tents," he said.

He said that the tents will be shipped to Turkiye through aircraft, land routes, and the sea.

"My chairman of the National Disaster Management Agency is sitting here, and I have tasked him with undertaking this very important project."

PM Shehbaz promised that the tents would be delivered to Turkiye as soon as possible.

He said, "I have directed the National Disaster Management Agency chairman to lead this very significant initiative."

"Our languages are different, but we understand each other very well. Turkiye will soon emerge from its crisis because of the sentiment and sincerity of intent on both sides. Pakistan stands with you," he added.

Earlier today, the premier, along with Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and officials of the NDMA, visited quake-affected areas of Adiyaman and interacted with the victims. PM Shehbaz also handed over to Turkish officials relief aid sent by Pakistan.

The prime minister visited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara after arriving in Turkey on Thursday and conveyed "deep condolences" on behalf of the Pakistani people and the Pakistani government.
