Police Foil Terrorist Attack In Lakki Marwat
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have foiled a terrorist attack on a police station in the Laki Marwat district.

Terrorists attacked the police station with automatic weapons, to which police responded in an effective manner, after which the terrorists managed to flee the scene.

No casualties have been reported in the terrorist attack in Laki Marwat. Sources said that after hearing gunfire, tribal elders reached the police station with weapons to support the police. The tribal elders also raised slogans in favour of the police.

The tribal elders said that they have declared "Jihad" against terrorism and that it would be better for terrorists to stay away from their locality.

It is pertinent to mention here that, on February 7, police and security forces conducted a joint operation in which 12 terrorists were killed.

On February 1, Punjab police foiled a major terror attack on the Makerwal police station of Mianwali.

The defunct Tehreek-e-Taliban Punjab armed with sophisticated firearms lodged an attack at the police station but was pushed back by the personnel.

Sources say that the police had already been intimated about the possible attack and it was ready for a faceoff with the terrorists.

Video doing rounds on social media also shows the exchange of heavy fire between the police and the terror outfit.

Moreover, in a statement on social media, a spokesperson of TTP Mohammad Khorasani confirmed the incident, saying he expected ‘heavy casualties’ in the act of terror.

Caretaker chief minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi praised the officers and personnel of the Punjab police for thwarting the attack, saying the men dealt bravely with the terrorists.

The incident occurred hours after Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hinted at an operation against terrorism, stressing the need for a national consensus in this regard.

Addressing a session of the National Assembly, Asif stressed consensus along the lines of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, launched earlier to completely purge the country of terrorists. He highlighted that any negotiations with “these people” in the past had failed to yield results.
