Multan: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz has on Monday said that former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa admitted during his retirement that bringing Imran Khan to power was a mistake and that Khan must be removed from politics once and for all.

While addressing the workers’ convention, Maryam Nawaz in Multan said that Khan has not been in his senses since his ouster.

She said that just admitting the mistake is not enough, adding that there is a need to throw Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan out of politics.

Taking a jibe at Imran Khan, Maryam said that the PTI chief had announced “Jail bharo Tehreek,” but he himself is in hiding due to fear of detention.

On February 4, 2023, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan announced to launch a ‘jail bharo tehreek’, saying he would make a formal announcement in this regard soon.

Addressing his supporters via video link, the former premier told the party’s leaders and workers to wait for his call to initiate the movement.

According to Imran, this campaign would convey to the ruling coalition who people will side with.

On the occasion, he accused the ruling party of using tactics to delay general elections, saying he never came across an interim government that was ‘busy in targeting political rivals’.

The ex-PM had a similar movement in October last year to pressure the government to announce snap polls. Also, during the 2014 sit-in, he had asked his supporters to launch a civil disobedient movement.

Imran opined during his address that the rulers wanted to use the new tide of terrorism to gain certain “political mileage” to their advantage.

He held Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif responsible for a rise in the incidents of terrorism in the country.
