At least five people were injured in an explosion near the Quetta Police Lines area on Sunday. The exact location of the blast is reported as 'Musa Checkpost' on Quetta's Airport Road. The injured persons have been moved to the Civil Hospital, Quetta. The police and emergency teams have arrived at the site, and the area has been cordoned off.

Police have yet to issue any formal statement, and the nature of the blast is yet to be ascertained. The explosion comes days after a deadly suicide blast at the Peshawar Police Lines mosque which claimed more than a hundred lives, with the victims mostly personnel of KP police.

Sources are now saying that the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for this attack, and has identified the attack as one 'Bilal Mansoor'. The TTP also claims that many vehicles were destroyed and many Pakistani security officials - from both the Army and the paramilitary Frontier Corps - were killed or wounded by the bombing.
