Another FIR Lodged Against Sheikh Rasheed
Another first information report (FIR) has been lodged against Awami Muslim League chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed at a Murree police station for interfering in official affairs.

The case was filed at the complaint of police official, Ashiq Ali, appointed at Aabpara police station, Islamabad.

The FIR was registered under Section 154 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Pakistan. The FIR states that Sheikh Rasheed resisted his arrest with the help of his armed servants, warned the police personnel of dire consequences and caused interference in official affairs.

The FIR states that the former interior minister physically pushed and abused the police officers and threatened them with serious consequences at gunpoint. Sheikh Rasheed’s two employees have also been named in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Rawalpindi Division President Raja Inayat Ur Rehman had filed a case against Sheikh Rasheed in Islamabad's police station for alleging that former president Asif Ali Zardari was hatching a plot to assassinate PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

On February 2, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the chief of the Awami Muslim League (AML) and former interior minister of the country, was arrested by police on the Murree Motorway in the early hours.

Sheikh Rashid, however, opposed the police’s statement and said that he was arrested from his house in Rawalpindi and not the motorway.

Sheikh Rashid claimed that his crime was to side with PTI Chairman Imran Khan. He claimed that at least 100-200 police personnel raided his residence. “They entered the house through ladders, broke the doors and windows of the house, and beat my servants.”

He further said the police arrested him despite the fact that a court had granted him bail and ordered the inspector-general of police to appear before the court on February 6.
