Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Wednesday questioned the government’s policy on terrorism, suggesting that the role of the state was missing in the current situation.

The senior Supreme Court judge made the remarks during the hearing of a case. He asked as to why terrorists are made offers, such as the offer for a dialogue.

Justice Isa questioned the role of the state in the situation and wondered why talks with the terrorists still under consideration.

According to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, the target of the suicide bomber was police officials. He also said that actions were being taken at every level against the terrorists, to achieve the results.

He said that terrorists, if given the opportunity, would kill more people than they already have.

The learned judge said that a judge’s report on terrorism was binned while another was killed. “No one seems to care about it.”

A day earlier, President Arif Alvi summoned a joint session of the Parliament on February 8, as lawmakers asked for holding the crucial talk amid the deadly bombing in Peshawar that claimed 100 lives.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hinted at an operation against terrorism, as he stressed the need for a national consensus in this regard.

Some 100 people were martyred, and many others are injured as a suicide bomber exploded himself in a mosque situated near Peshawar’s Police Lines.

Interior Minister said the attack couldn’t be termed a security failure, adding police were fighting against terrorism with full commitment.

The attacker was present in the front row during Zohr prayers when he exploded himself, injuring dozens of faithful. The injured were treated at the Lady Reading Hospital of Peshawar.

Speaking to media, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Haji Ghulam Ali had said that most of the casualties were police personnel.

According to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, the target of the suicide bomber was police officials. He also said that actions were being taken at every level against the terrorists, to achieve the results.

He had also said that the attack couldn’t be termed a security failure, adding police were fighting terror with full commitment.

In his remarks, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto said the implementation of NAP was the only solution to the terrorism problem.

Former prime minister Imran Khan asked the authorities to improve intelligence gathering and equip police force to combat terrorism.
