Shahrukh Khan has finally spoken up about the brewing ‘Pathaan’ controversy, as the film continues to brave threats from the hardliners to sell record number of cinema tickets.
The film is shattering all the records at the box office and after day 4 and its global collection has crossed Rs 400 crore mark. The Siddhartha Anand-thriller shows Khan playing the role of an Indian spy standing against Jim, played by John Abraham. The film was released in the theatres on January 25, 2023.
Addressing the media on Monday, flanked by co-starrers Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, the Bollywood megastar revealed that the film’s team had to make ‘special efforts’ to ensure the release remains peaceful.
Thanking everyone for showering the film with support, he said it was despite, “Things that would have curtailed the happy release of the film.”
“We are grateful for people’s love for Pathaan. We have got so much love from all sides,” the actor maintained.
Khan also revealed that that ‘phone calls had to be made’ to remove hindrance in the way of the release. “There were times when we had to call people and ask them to please let us release our film peacefully,” he said and thanked those who made it possible.
