Masiha Millat Party, a Christian rights body, has approached Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing seeking registration of a blasphemy case against the central leader of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Mirza Masroor Ahmad for allegedly uttering ‘blasphemous’ remarks against Christian faith.

The complaint has been filed by Masiha Millat Party leader Aslam Parvaiz Sahotra who alleged that he found a video clip of Mirza Masroor uttering derogatory remarks and challenging an idea central to the Christian faith.

Pakistan's blasphemy law is often used allegedly to suppress members of religious minorities but in a strange turn of events, a persecuted minority is using this law against another persecuted minority.

Trumped up blasphemy allegations have in the past claimed lives of many high profile personalities in Pakistan, including the former governor of Punjab Salmaan Taseer and former federal minister Shehbaz Bhatti who were assassinated in 2011 after being accused of committing blasphemy.
