Dar Seeks US Favor In Acquiring IMF Loan
ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has urged the United States to use their diplomatic influence for convincing the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to relax loan conditions for the country, The Friday Times reported on Thursday.

Dar presented this request while meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Department of the Treasury for Asia, Robert Kaproth, at the Finance Division.

The meeting was attended by the Department of Treasury for Pakistan Eva Ghirmai, Financial attache’ Larita Bolden, Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Dr Aisha Ghous Pasha, SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, secretary of finance and senior officers from Finance Division.

During the meeting, Dar briefed Robert Kaproth regarding the economic condition of the country.

He also informed him about the government’s efforts in attaining economic growth and development.

The loan is delayed since months and the government is not in a position to implement the IMF’s conditions due to political turmoil in the country.
