'I Meant The PTI Finance Ministers': Suleman Shehbaz Explains His 'Joker' Tweet
Suleman Shehbaz, son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Saturday claimed that he meant to mock PTI's finance ministers when he posted the 'joker' tweet.

PML-N leader and former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had earlier asked Suleman for an explanation at the post wherein he had called the last three finance ministers 'jokers'.

Speaking to a private news channel, Abbasi had termed it indecent to regard any ex-finance minister as a 'joker', and that Suleman should explain what he actually meant.

Today (Jan 21), when a media person asked the PM's son about the tweet, he replied, "PTI had brought in five finance ministers; I had referred to the last three of them."

The journalist then asked if [PML-N leader and previous finance minister] Miftah Ismail was one of them, to which Suleman said, "I had not named anyone."

Earlier today, the Federal Investigation Agency on Saturday gave a 'clean chit' to Suleman Shehbaz, son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in the Rs16 billion money-laundering case over 'lack of evidence' against the accused.

Special Judge Central Bakht Fakhar Behzad heard the case related to pre-arrest bail plea of the accused, who appeared in the court after completing his interim bail.

Special Prosecutor Farooq Bajwa and investigation officer also appeared during the aforesaid hearing.

The FIA produced the challan concerning the accused, saying it could not find any evidence of money laundering or kickbacks against him.

It further stated that no evidence of involvement of Suleman's or Tahir Naqvi were found in the case.

Subsequently, the court adjourned the proceedings into the case until February 4.

The money laundering case had no substance to it following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz' acquittal in the case, according to an analysis last month.

In Oct last year, a special court acquitted the premier and his son Hamza in the money laundering case.

They had been named by the FIA in the case in 2020. Judge Ijaz Awan had announced the verdict after the prosecution told the court no funds had been transferred into the accounts of the accused.

Suleman was earlier declared a proclaimed offender for regularly failing to appear before the court.

The PML-N had termed the charges “fabricated” which were bound to conclude. “Another fabricated case created for political victimisation comes to it’s inevitable end,” the party had said, as the critical case had come to its conclusion.
