PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Friday held former COAS Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and ex-ISI chief Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed responsible for the ‘mess Pakistan was currently in’.
“Yes, you all know it well,” he told media persons in London when asked if he believed that the duo was responsible for the current situation as stated during his Gujranwala address, to which he had made a reference during the talk.
He added that those who were responsible for Pakistan’s current situation had used it for their personal gains.
“We were on the verge of destruction [during that time] as a result of what they did to the country,” he maintained. “It was indeed a vicious game that they played with Pakistan.”
Nawaz vowed to pull Pakistan out of its quagmire, saying “[We think of it] as our responsibility to ensure that Pakistan stands on its feet again; there is no way that it won’t.”
Calling PTI chairman Imran Khan a “madman”, the PML-N leader said that one can very well compare the conditions of the economy during his and the former’s term in power.

In wake of consistent defeats at the hands of arch-rivals PTI, Nawaz has asked the top cadre of the party to develop a new strategy against the former ahead of forthcoming polls, according to a report.
It had quoted a Cabinet member as saying that Nawaz wants a ‘charge-sheet’ developed against PTI chief and his ‘facilitators’ in the establishment that include an ex-COAS, two former spy chiefs, and an ex-chief justice of the country, to target them during the electioneering.
The fresh attempt is to be made with the aim to renew ruling party’s slogan of vote ko izzat do (respect the vote).
The report further stated that the new narrative is required in light of the fact that the Toshakhana scam and the audio leaks have not done much damage to the former ruling party.
The PML-N, it added, also seems worried about the fact that the elections in Punjab maybe due in just a few months’ span and that the former premier has been regaining some of the lost popularity.
The local leaders are also unhappy with the absence of the top leadership during the vote of confidence of the outgoing chief minister in Punjab.
They want the party supremo and others to return to the country so that the party could face the rising political threats as a united front, the report had said.
Totally agree that Tabdeeli project cost our nation 74 per cent increase in national debt over last 7 decades and was only aimed at getting an extension and Faiz to succeed after. What we got was poor governance all over especially in Punjab which now trails behind Sindh in all development indices.
I think it’s the response to his lament in 2017 when we went out of his office saying مجھے کیوں نکالا ؟
It’s what he has exposed in last 5 years. It is sad indeed that this can be done to a nation of 220 million by some people just to extend their tenure. The whole economy is in dire straits due to this sick joke on us but perpetrators have retired with all the perks and are untouchables.
They have all been exposed and confessed to their crimes so perhaps it’s time to defrock them.
