Rana Sanaullah Fears 'Imminent' Governor Rule In Punjab
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has expressed fear of a Governor's Rule in Punjab with regard to Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi's forthcoming vote of confidence from the provincial assembly.

Talking to media person in Lahore today (Jan 10), he claimed that PTI didn't have the numbers required to win the vote, and this has increased the chances of a Governor's Rule in the province.

He denied ever claiming that the ruling party in Centre had 186 votes against its actual number of 179.

The PML-N leader further warned the provincial government against barring party's members from the voting, saying, "It will be an unconstitutional and illegal step; they will need to seek the vote at all costs."

He warned that the arch-rivals will be at loss if they choose to resort to any 'illegal act' on the occasion.

Sanaullah accused PTI-allied CM of looting the province's resources to extreme proportions. "The bunch led by Imran Khan roughed up the economy [and now] Pervez Elahi remains imposed on Punjab."

The PML-N leader accused the 'bunch led by Imran Khan, Elahi, and CM's son' to be involved in the 'loot and plunder'.

Last month, the Lahore High Court reinstated Parvez Elahi as Punjab’s Chief Minister and his Cabinet after the assurance by the latter that he won’t advise the dissolution of the assembly without securing the vote of confidence first.

The order was passed after the PML-Q leader gave the guarantee to the court, bringing days of intense wrangling to an end.

Following the decision, Sanaullah had said that the court had only given an interim relief to the PML-Q leader. According to him, the LHC would give its verdict on 11 January after listening to both parties.

Analysts say CM Elahi could find it difficult to retain chief ministership amid the opposition’s move. He requires 186 votes to win the confidence of the House.

Among 371 members, he may have the support of 180 members from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and 10 from Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.
