Recorded PM Shehbaz's Discussions On Gen Faiz Orders, Ex-ADC Admits
A former ADC to Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed has admitted to monitoring Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's office shortly after he assumed his new responsibilities, says investigative journalist Azaz Syed.

Abdul Rehman (code name Maj Arsalan) used to coordinate for the general when he was heading the ISI, he added.

The matter of the premier's audio leaks came to the fore in September last year, suggesting that PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz was asking the PM's House to oblige a certain officer, but the same was denied.

The journalist added that the officer eventually admitted to his wrongdoing. "He was not expecting to be interrogated for his doing."

Syed made the remarks while talking to fellow investigative journalist Umar Cheema, at programme Talk SHOCK, on Tuesday.

It is still being probed whether the officer was on an special assignment that resulted into his monitoring of the premier, he said.

Azaz added that arrival of another officer, a civilian with the name of Rehmatullah, is still awaited as part of the investigation.

'Shia COAS'

Azaz said a Saudi envoy to Pakistan was picked and told by security officials to dispel a misunderstanding with the Kingdom regarding the then incoming Chief of the Army Staff, Gen Asim Munir.

He was told to convey to his country that the incoming commander of the armed forces wasn't from the Shia community as conveyed earlier.

The attaché, who could have been misguided, relayed the incorrect news because he allegedly wanted to assume a greater role in the embassy as a reward.

Azaz maintained that it was for this reason that the summary into the appointment of the new COAS was delayed.
