Israeli Far-Right Minister Ben-Gvir Enters Masjid Al-Aqsa In Occupied East Jerusalam

Israeli Far-Right Minister Ben-Gvir Enters Masjid Al-Aqsa In Occupied East Jerusalam
Itamar Ben-Gvir is the Minister of National Security for Israel and a member of the Israeli Knesset since 2021. The minister has been extremely anti-Palestenian throughout his political career, a settler in Kiryat Araba, one of the most radical settlements in the occupied West Bank (illegal under international law).

Ben-Gvir has been convicted of incitement to racism, destroying property, possessing a “terror” organisation’s propaganda material and supporting a terror organization, even joining the now banned Meir Kahane’s outlawed Kach group when he was 16, which is a violent Jewish militia made up of Jewish activists who reject democracy and advocate the expulsion or, if necessary, annihilation of Arabs from what they call Eretz Yisrael (Land of Israel).

The Minister was seen touring the Masjid Al-Aqsa on Tuesday 3rd January. The Palestinian authorities have condemned the move as a deliberate provocation to which Ben-Gvir responds both via a spokesperson and Twitter that he has no intention of backing off and continues to advocate for the mosque to be converted into a Jewish place of worship.

The minister has been ramping up his far-right campaign in support of the illegal colonization of Palestinian land ever since he became a member of the Knesset and when Benjamin Netanyahu was re-elected as Prime Minister, he was given the power to continue his far-right agenda without anyone his way as Minister of National Security.
