National Security Committee (NSC) on Friday reviewed the security situation of the country amid a rise in the incidents of terrorism.

The meeting of the NSC, which is the decision-making forum with regard to national security and foreign policy, was attended by federal ministers, services chiefs, and heads of intelligence agencies.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the participants on the steps being taken to revive the economy.

The statement issued following the huddle read, “The basic interests of Pakistan’s survival, security, and development will be protected with great courage, consistency, and steadfastness.”

The NSC will hold its second session on Monday (Jan 2) to take its decisions in light of the proposals.

The meeting was convened after a meeting between the premier and Chief of the Army Staff Gen Asim Munir.

On Dec 29, the 254th Corps Commanders Conference was held in Rawalpindi, with the new COAS in the chair. The huddle resolved to fight terrorists and eliminate terrorism as per the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.
