In wake of the growing security concerns, Islamabad police have issued a fresh security strategy, installing at least 25 check-posts in the federal capital.

According to the plan shared by the capital police on Tuesday, Safe City cameras will be utilised to record entry points of the Red Zone.

The surveillance, it said, would also include the monitoring of passengers of the metro bus. The LEA also asked for proper number plates on the vehicles and registration of tenants at a local police station or at one of the khidmat marakiz (facilitation centres).

Police further asked the citizens to inform the authorities of any suspicious activity on the helpline-15.

On Monday, Saudi, Australian and Danish embassies issued security advisories for Islamabad, a day after the US, UK and Italian embassies issued a similar alert. US embassy, too, instructed its officials to refrain from visiting the Marriott Hotel.

On Dec 25, a suicide bombing took place at a police checkpoint in Sector I-10 of Islamabad, raising alarm.
