Bilal Lashari’s ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ has achieved another milestone this week, as the blockbuster remake of the Punjabi epic surpassed the two billion mark at the global box office, becoming the first-ever Pakistani film to do so.

Pakistan’s ace director is over the moon as he turned to his official Instagram account and posted an image showcasing the film’s detailed box office collections along with the caption “A big thank you for the love, once again”.

The modern rendition of Maula Jutt, Lashari’s cinematic masterpiece managed to rake in a massive Rs. 800 million at the domestic box office and a whopping Rs. 1.2 billion from the overseas box office, making it the highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time with a total of Rs. 2 billion collections worldwide.

Apart from being Pakistan’s most heavily grossing film ever, Lashari’s film added many other laurels to its name. Adding a modern twist to the history of Pakistani cinema, ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ has been honoured as the second-highest-earning film in the UK for the year 2022, as well as the most-watched South Asian film in Norway.

The film’s stellar cast includes Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Ali Azmat, Saima Baloch, Faris Shafi, Shafqat Cheema, Nayyer Ejaz, Resham, Babar Ali and Raheela Agha.
