The Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies won’t be dissolved, but the opposition is gearing up for a no-confidence motion along the lines of the one tabled against CM Pervez Elahi.
Speaking at Naya Daur TV programme Khabar Say Aagay, journalist Waqar Satti said after the success of the motion, Pakistan Democratic Movement – the alliance of opposition parties – will be able to form its government there.
He also hinted at the formation of a 47-member forward bloc that won’t support dissolution, posing an opposition to 95 PTI MPAs.
Furthermore, 30 to 35 MNAs have told Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf they won’t be resigning, Satti said.
He said PTI supporters didn’t turn up in desirable numbers outside Governor House Punjab and so PTI chairman Imran Khan took “one man” to task during his address.
According to journalist Ahmad Waleed, 95 percent of PTI MPA, too, don’t want the Punjab Assembly to dissolve. Some 156 Punjab lawmakers turned up for the party’s meeting today, an indication in itself.
“All CM Elahi wants is for the courts to decide the matter of Punjab Assembly’s dissolution,” he added.
Zaigham Khan seconded the opinion, saying political parties want to buy more time so they can find a way out of the complex issue.
Speaking on the occasion, Tanzila Mazhar said PDM government is considering to hold elections a year later and this has Imran Khan worried.
“The cases against him are maturing, while the audio leaks continue to pour in,” she said. “It seems that the system has decided to disqualify the former premier.”
