In A First, Pakistani Film Joyland Shortlisted For Oscars
Saim Sadiq's Joyland has made it to Oscars, becoming the first film from the country to achieve the feat.

It bagged nomination for the 95th Academy Awards in the International Feature Film category.

Starring, Alina Khan, Ali Junejo, Rasti Farooq, Sarwat Gilani, Salman Peerzada, and Sania Saeed, Joyland quickly invited criticism from many at home, while winning accolades abroad.

Among other nominations are India's Last Film Show, 20 years after Lagaan was able to achieve the feat.

Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy shared the news on Instagram, terming it "incredible" and a 'reason to celebrate'.

Malala Yousafzai, Joyland's executive producer, called Sadiq and congratulated him on the achievement.

It is worth mentioning here that the film earlier made it to the Cannes Film Festival and bagged awards, besides a standing ovation.
