Those releasing audio and video leaks involving the ex-premier want him to back off because they ‘have a lot against him’, says journalist Aamir Ilyas Rana.
Expressing his thoughts during Naya Daur TV’s programme Khabar Say Aagay on Tuesday, Rana stressed that the focus should rather be on the cases against the ex-premier.
He said CM Elahi’s failure to attain vote of confidence in the next 24 hours may invite Governor’s Rule in the province.
On the cases against PTI, he said the party hasn’t been able to get the same stay from the courts that it used to.
Legal expert Raza Rahman said it was possible for Punjab to elect a new chief minister tomorrow, after the de-seating of Pervez Elahi, analysts say.
He added that CM Elahi may be removed from the post if he doesn’t succeed in gaining majority votes during the session.
Analyst Rifatullah Orakzai said PTI chief is witnessing a plunge in his popularity, saying his supporters didn’t take to the streets like they were supposed to, over the cases against him.
