Developing: Punjab Opposition Readies No Confidence Motion Against CM Pervez Elahi
According to reliable sources, the federal government has pre-empted Imran Khan's wish to dissolve the Punjab assembly, by submitting a no confidence motion in the provincial legislature. It has been reported that the no confidence motion is directed against Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi, speaker Punjab assembly Sibtain Khan, and deputy speaker Wasiq Abbasi. The motion has reportedly been signed by nearly 106 opposition legislators, including PML-N and PPP parliamentarians, at the house of PML-N leader Rana Mashhood.

This development comes as the Punjab chief minister, along with his sons Moonis and Hussain, arrived at former premier Imran Khan's residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, a few hours ago (during Saturday afternoon).

Earlier, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was reported to have met an important personality in Rawalpindi, and according to multiple sources, he was assured in the meeting that he will be safely extricated from the quagmire in which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf is plunging him.

It has been reported earlier that Elahi and his PML-Q would undertake all attempts to prevent the dissolution of Punjab assembly, in order to prevent Imran Khan from disrupting the ongoing legislative and development works - which all parliamentarians rely on for re-election - in Pakistan's most populous and consequential province. Like PML-N and PPP, PML-Q is also reportedly keen on prolonging the assembly tenure up until it constitutionally expires in August 2023.
