Gujranwala Police Directed To Probe Desecration Of Ahmadi Worship Place
The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) on Monday November 12 directed the City Police Office (CPO) Gujranwala to look into the desecration of an Ahmadi place of worship in the Punjab city, and compile a report of the incident within seven days for necessary action.

On Saturday, the Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya claimed that a police team had razed minarets atop the worship place. The team departed with the rubble after destroying the structures.

According to the community, their opponents had approached police in connection with the structures six months earlier. The minarets were then concealed.

The minarets, it says, predate the promulgation of the Ahmadiyya-specific Ordinance XX.

Pakistan’s tiny Ahmadi community is routinely subjected to discrimination which often enjoys legal and state sanction.
