Journalist Nadia Naqi said on Thursday that the joint investigation team (JIT) constituted to probe the Kenya killing of slain Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif will only prove its mettle if those named by the mother of the deceased were interrogated.
Naqi made the comments while speaking in flagship Naya Daur show Khabar Say Aagay. She said she thought the development of the JIT having been constituted would not amount to much. Sharif’s letter to the top court, she said, merited an answer too.
The Pakistan Rangers, The Friday Times — Naya Daur editor Raza Rumi said when then Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi wanted the force deployed to quell the 2017 Faizabad sit-in, his directives were not complied with. This, the journalist said, was representative of the state the executive branch of the State.
Rumi also spoke about how it was now crystal clear that PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi was very much the establishments choice for the coveted post of Punjab chief minister. He also termed the registration of FIRs to settle political scores a flop show. This, he said, proved ineffectual over 75 years so how could it be expected to bear fruit now.
