Citing his fabled sparrow (chirhya), The Friday Times editor Najam Sethi said on Friday that a summary for the appointment of the next army chief had reached the prime minister.
He made the comments in flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay. Sethi said neither be ‘AA’ nor ‘SS’. The senior-most general will be named COAS, he said.
The star journalist said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had been informed that his efforts had come to naught. Neither would his long march amount to much nor will his favourite be named army chief.
The TFT editor said the PTI chief’s popularity had been declining in line with developments going against him and his changing narrative. Sethi said the long march will not proceed to Islamabad. It, he said, will conclude in Rawalpindi where Khan will announce how interlocutors had been finalised and negotiations were underway.
No revolution, he said, was set to take place. Neither, the TFT editor said, will a one-party system be enshrined.
Flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay streams Monday to Saturday at 9pm on Youtube.
