Cricketer Shoaib Malik on Tuesday wished wife Sania Mirza a “happy birthday” with a now-viral photo-tweet featuring the two amidst divorce rumours.

“Happy Birthday to you @MirzaSania Wishing you a very healthy & happy life! Enjoy the day to the fullest…,” Shoaib said in his post. The couple appear to me mighty happy in the shared photograph.

The tweet had been liked a whopping 144,000 times by the time this report was filed. It had been retweeted over 6,000 times. It had a little under 4,000 comments.

The cricketer had posted the same in a separate post on picture-sharing site Instagram prior. The post, which also features a tag for Sania, had been liked over 259,000 times. It had over 4,500 comments under.

Celebrities, separately, were quick to inundate the couple with positive vibes across both mediums. Journalist-actor Sana Bucha wished “some privacy” for the couple in her comment under Shoaib’s Twitter post. “Wishing her @MirzaSania health, wealth and lots of happiness and for the both of you some privacy! Stay blessed you two @realshoaibmalik.”

Wishing Sania a happy birthday, actor Imran Abbas said in his Instagram comment he was looking forward to seeing Shoaib on the 22nd. “Happy Birthday and see you on 22nd.👍🏼😊.”

Actor Ushna Shah prayed for the couple to always experience bliss in her Instagram comment. “Allah humesha khush rakhey, ameen.”

Rumours that cricketer Shoaib Malik and tennis ace Sania Mirza had split gained traction earlier. Sania and Shoaib had gotten hitched among much fanfare and controversy in 2010. They have a son: Izhaan.

Sania’s cryptic Instagram posts fuelled the rumours. She had recently taken to the picture-sharing site to post a story on where “broken hearts” were expected to go. Her team remained unavailable for comments when reached by Gulf News. Geo received no comments either from Shoaib’s team.
