Iranian Man Who Inspired Hollywood's 'The Terminal' Passes Away
Mehran Karimi Nasseri was an Iranian who set out to Europe in search of his mother. He travelled across Europe and was expelled from Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands and Germany.

Nasseri ultimately found himself in France where he was granted refugee status and the right to remain in 1999.  The airport's 2F Terminal was his home till 2006 when he was hospitalised for an illness.

After gaining international recognition post Steven Spielberg's movie The Terminal where Tom Hanks played him, Nasseri referred to himself as 'Sir Albert' and earned enough to live in a hostel.

Weeks before his death, the Iranian exile had returned to reside at the airport. As per a BBC report he had a few thousand euros on him.
