PM Shehbaz Says Will Resign If 'Compulsive Liar' Imran Corroborates Assassination Allegations
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday that "compulsive liar" Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had been leading the nation astray with a litany of lies.

The prime minister made the remarks at a fiery press conference held in wake of Thursday assassination attempt at the PTI chairman in Wazirabad. The former Punjab chief minister said Imran was on a mission to destroy Pakistan. He, the prime minister said, had wreaked havoc on Pakistan's international relations too.

Commenting on Khan's allegations of a trio composed of Major General Faisal, Shehbaz and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of having orchestrated the assassination bid, Shehbaz questioned why no movement had been registered on this front given how the party held office in Punjab. "Why has an FIR not been registered?"

The prime minister challenged the PTI chief to present any proof to corroborate his allegations before the nation. If he did so, Shehbaz said he will vacate office.

Addressing Supreme Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, he demanded a full-court commission to probe Khan's "grave" allegations. He said this was in national interest. The top court needed to look into this once and for all.

PTI chairman Imran Khan was injured in a Wazirabad firing incident earlier on Thursday. Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of the PTI chairman’s container earlier. It later emerged that he had been injured. The PTI supremo sustained a bullet in the leg, according to initial reports. The PTI chairman was taken to a Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore. His condition is said to be stable.
