Imran's Long March Aimed At The Appointment Of The Army Chief Of His Choice: Nawaz Sharif
Former prime minister and the Quaid of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) has said that Imran Khan's Long March is about getting an army chief of his choice appointed.

On Wednesday, the former premier tweeted that Pakistanis got a taste of Imran Khan's 'revolution during his 4-year rule. Sharif further said that Khan has been calling others thieves while he is 'history's biggest thief' as there was incontrovertible evidence of his corruption in Tosha Khana, prohibited funding and other cases.

The incumbent Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) retires at the end of November 2022. The new appointment is likely to be made during the next few weeks. Intense speculation has gripped the country about the new appointment given the overarching role of military in national affairs.

The current COAS Gen. Bajwa has already announced that he is not seeking another extension.

In a separate tweet, PM Shehbaz Sharif said on Twitter, “Imran Niazi is playing a dangerous game. He is using tragic killing of Arshad Sharif for petty politics & going to the extent of casting aspersions on state institutions. He should be patient & wait for findings of Judicial Commission instead of resorting to baseless allegations.”

Imran Khan is all set to start his long march from Lahore to Islamabad on Friday. The marchers intend to reach Islamabad on November 4.

Earlier, one of Khan's close aides Faisal Vawda said in a press conference that the forthcoming march will lead to a bloodbath.
