On Tuesday veteran lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan said that COAS Bajwa committed a criminal act of great severity by facilitating the Sharif family’s acquittal.

Addressing the media Ahsan spoke candidly about how the charges against Nawaz Sharif, his brother Shehbaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz had been dropped.

“Bajwa has committed a huge crime by letting them go,” said Aitzaz Ahsan, referencing the amendments in NAB proceedings.

The statement has been viewed as a criticism of the military’s meddling in state politics even though Bajwa has said that the military has distanced itself from politics and will retains its distance.
