A police officer at the G9 police station in Islamabad has come under fire for reportedly torturing a man in his custody by ‘stepping on his face’ and kicking him repeatedly.
Human rights activist and lawyer Imaan Mazari-Hazir said on Saturday that she was at the G9 police station regarding journalist Asad Toor’s car accident case, when she heard loud screams coming from one of the rooms. Upon investigation, she says she found a police officer ‘beating’ a man in his custody.
The police officer was identified as Station House Officer Irshad.

A video of her demanding the officer to show her his badge number and accusing the officer of custodial torture has been making the rounds on Twitter, with the officer denying that he had been torturing the victim.

Another Twitter user noted that the police station at G9 is in extremely bad condition, and the accompanying pictures show a badly kept cell room full of trash.
G9 thana is a shithole. In 2020 before being shifted to Adiyala, me and 6 others were kept there for the night. The officers, except for one, were complete assholes… https://t.co/kMwBViagIO pic.twitter.com/wqFcZlgHxy
