Ishaq Dar To Replace Miftah Ismail As Finance Minister Next Week
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to appoint party leader Ishaq Dar as finance minister, according to a report published by Geo News on Saturday.

The report said that the decision was made during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and party supremo Nawaz Sharif in London. It added that Ishaq will take charge of the post on Tuesday.

It further said that Miftah Ismail, the current finance minister, will remain a part of the government's economic team.

Ishaq, who is currently residing in London, had earlier said that he will take oath as senator immediately after his return to Pakistan, adding that he will perform whatever duty is assigned to him by the party leadership.

Earlier in the day, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said in a press conference in Lahore that Ishaq would return to the county in the coming week and facilitate the government’s economic team.

Talking about Nawaz's return to Pakistan, Sanaullah said that the former prime minister has accepted the party's request to him to be present to lead the party’s election campaign next year. “Whenever elections happen, Nawaz Sharif will be back in Pakistan before that,” he added.
