World Bank To Provide $850 Million In Immediate Aid To Pakistan
The World Bank has decided to provide $850 million immediately to Pakistan to help the country in flood relief efforts, infrastructure, agriculture, rural and urban development, and social service.

World Bank President David Malpass announced this during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, according to a report published by Mettis Link on Thursday.

Malpass expressed sympathy and condolence over the damage caused by floods in the country, Radio Pakistan reported.

Appreciating the World Bank's partnership with Pakistan, Shehbaz informed Malpass about the government's initiatives to introduce economic policies focused on strengthening the economy, price stability and maintaining the sustainability of financial sectors.

The premier highlighted the government's need for additional investment and financial resources from the international community to mitigate the devastating effects of climate change on the people and economy of Pakistan.
