Everyone can take action in their own way to help our fellow human beings in trouble.  The team at The Little Book Company, (Pakistan’s first and only e-book platform) takes a novel approach to supporting the flood relief work by uploading a one page e-short story “Driftwood” in English and Urdu and Sindhi. The e-short story was written for The Little Book Company Flood Relief Funds drive. The full amount or 100 percent of sales of Driftwood go for flood relief.

This has been a collective effort across time zones. This e-short story was written anonymously for The Little Book Company and then translated to Urdu and Sindhi by the acclaimed Urdu and Sindhi poet, writer, journalist Hasan Mujtaba.  The e-cover is a painting, also anonymous. Behind the scenes a team of digital experts including Farrukh Iqbal, the Chief Operating Officer, Saad Iqbal, the Chief Technical Officer in Karachi—worked to get the e-story uploaded on August 30th, within 12 hours of it being written and translated.

The purchasers of ‘Driftwood’ in English and Urdu and Sindhi are all over the world. They are not donor organizations they are individuals who care. By the Grace vested in everyone involved so far who stepped up with kindness and caring and cooperation and sharing—The Little Book Company has sent four tranches to date for a total of Rs. 400,000 or 100 percent of sales of “Driftwood” to Edhi, Al Kidmat, Saylani Welfare Trust, Sindh Rural Support Organization, Hands, Sindh Graduates Association (Ghotki), Women’s Democratic Front Sindh, Helping Hands Student Organization (Hyderabad), Haqooq Khalq party and Saharo Foundation. The amount may be small, but it is big— when you think about it—each small step makes a big difference—we’re using our pen, and our considerable experience in community building, relief and recovery…

The Little Book Company will continue to transfer funds from sales of ‘Driftwood” to these and other relief organizations each time a viable amount is reached to transfer. The Little Book Company hopes to make the next rounds of transfers at the same pace as it has been doing since September 2. Please help  get to the next tranches quickly.

Register for free on The Little Book Company platform and contribute if you can through the purchase the e-story ‘Driftwood’.
