The Friday Times Editor Najam Sethi has revealed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan is in direct contact with the establishment.
Commenting during Naya Daur flagship show Khabbar Se Aagey, the veteran journalist said the PTI chairman was the only person in trouble right now. He said Khan had been informed that free-and-fair general elections will be held in March 2023. An announcement pertaining to this will be made in January, 20203. It remained to be seen, however Sethi said, if Imran could exercise patience till then.
Imran has been staging shows of power even with the nation inundated. His stance is very clear. It remains to be seen if he can wait till January, Sethi said.
The Friday Times editor said a two-way trust deficit existed between Imran and the establishment. The establishment trusts (Prime Minister) Shehbaz Sharif and he trusts the establishment.
The international community too, Sethi said, was backing the establishment. They neither trust Imran nor Shehbaz. He said the establishment remained preponderant irrespective of what politicians or the people had to muse about it.
