Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for expressing his condolences over the human and material losses caused by a monster monsoon in Pakistan.
“I thank Indian PM [Prime Minister] Narendra Modi for condolences over the human and material losses caused by floods. With their characteristic resilience, the people of Pakistan shall, InshaAllah, overcome the adverse effects of this natural calamity and rebuild their lives and communities,” Shehbaz said in a tweet.

Modi had expressed his condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives in flood-related incidents in Pakistan earlier on Monday. “Saddened to see the devastation caused by the floods in Pakistan. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the injured and all those affected by this natural calamity and hope for an early restoration of normalcy,” he said in a tweet.

Torrential rains have left one third of Pakistan under water. Over a 1,000 people have lost their lives and more than 1,500 have been injured in flood-related incidents across the country.
