Action Must Over K-P Riverside Construction, COAS Says
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Tuesday that action should be taken against those who permitted  construction along the banks of rivers in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The army chief told journalists hotels, which had been destroyed in the 2010 floods, had been rebuilt across the same spots, adding action should be taken against those who permitted such construction.

Meanwhile, the COAS visited flood-affected areas of Swat to oversee the evacuation and relief operations being conducted for the people stranded in Kumrat, Kalam and other surrounding areas. He met women, children, elders and other people who were rescued by the army from Kumrat and Kalam to Kanju, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The army chief undertook aerial reconnaissance of damage caused by floods and military-led relief efforts across various locations including Kalam, Bahrain, Khwazakhela and Matta areas of Swat. He also appreciated Peshawar Corps for its effective and timely response during crises.
