Russia, Ukraine Trade Blame As Nuclear Plant At Risk Of Radioactive Leak
Russia "repeatedly shelled" Europe's largest nuclear facility: Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, it has been claimed on Saturday.

The claim was put forth by Energoatom -- The Ukrainian nuclear energy company. The plant, located in south Ukraine is occupied by Russian forces.

The Russian defence ministry lashed back accusing Ukrainian forces of launching the attacks on the plant itself. “A total of 17 shells were fired, four of which hit the roof of Special Building No. 1, where 168 assemblies of US Westinghouse nuclear fuel are stored,” the Russian defence ministry said in a statement.

As per Energoaton, the station’s infrastructure has been damaged to the point where there is great risk of hydrogen and radioactive leakage and the risk of a fire hazard is high. Iodine tablets have been given to residents who live near the nuclear plant consequently.
