Cellular data and internet services in the many areas of Balochistan were disrupted earlier in July following unrelenting rainfall and heavy flash flooding.  Cities most affected include Lasbela, Kech, Panjgoor, Gawadar, Awaran, Ziarat and Mastung.

Over 300 cell sites owned by three major cellular mobile operators — Telenor, Zong and Ufone — have been affected in the cities. PTCL services were also impacted. Although Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been working to resolve the issue alongside operators for restoring of services, local residents have been left virtually cut off from the rest of the country with the floods having also cut off road access across many parts.
