Rangers Set To Obtain Gill's Custody as PTI-Ruled Punjab Defies Court Directives
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Wednesday stoked a federal-provincial stand-off over PTI leader Shahbaz Gill's custody.

According to sources, the party is trying to present Gill as medically unfit to enable his transfer to a Punjab facility. Islamabad Police had reached Adiala Jail to obtain Gill's custody in accordance with court directives.

Punjab Police, under profound pressure from PTI chairman Imran Khan, refused to hand him over. Undeterred, the federal government has requisitioned the Pakistan Rangers to swiftly implement court orders. A contingent is on its way.

In latest developments, Gill has reportedly left Adiala Jail in an ambulance escorted by Islamabad Police.

Earlier today, Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhary announced a verdict that approved a two-day physical remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill at the request of the capital police.

The PTI has alleged that Gill was tortured by the police and remains in danger of further torture if he returns to police custody.
