Dr Mukhtar Ahmed has been appointed as Chairperson of the HEC for two years. He has held the office of the HEC as Chairman before and has also served as Executive Director.
According to a report, the prime minister appointed Dr Mukhtar for two years. “The prime minister has seen and, while considering the recommendations of the Search Committee, has been pleased to approve the appointment of Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed out of the panel proposed,” the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office read.
According to a notification, the terms and conditions of appointment of Dr Mukhtar Ahmed shall be decided separately.
Dr Mukhtar is a PhD from University of California, Riverside. He has over 30 years of educational development and management experience, including teaching, higher education management policy development, project planning, supervising university-industry collaboration, introducing entrepreneurial approaches to education, allied matters.
He has worked with distinguished national and international organisations and brings with him unique expertise of educational leadership. He has participated in different national and international conferences as speaker and session chair.
Previously, Dr Mukhtar had completed his term as HEC chairperson on April 15, 2018.
