Sindh To Close Markets, Malls At 9pm To Save Electricity
The Sindh government has announced that all commercial markets and shopping malls across the province will be shut down at 9pm in order to save electricity.

According to a notification issued by the Sindh Home Department today, marriage and banquet halls will close by 10:30pm, while hotels, restaurants, coffee shops and cafes will shut down by 11pm.

The measures will remain in effect till July 16.

The notification said that due to the power outages and load-shedding, there is an urgent need to take effective measures for conservation of energy in the province.

The new rules, however, are not applicable to medical stores, pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, bakeries and milk shops.

The notification further said that the federal cabinet had decided on June 7 to take measures to reduce load-shedding hours through conservation of energy and demanded implementation of a national strategy for tackling the energy crisis.

According to reports, the country is facing up to 10 hours load-shedding in urban and rural areas. The power generation in the country is about 20,000 MW against demand of 28,000 MW of which 25,000 MW is regular demand in the country.
