YouTuber Zunaira Mahum, whose recent interview of minor girl Dua Zehra and her husband Zaheer Ahmed generated a backlash, has said that she was talking to the couple through police and lawyers, not directly.
On June 13, Zunaira had interviewed Dua Zahra, who had gone missing from Karachi in April but later declared that she had run away from her home to marry 21-year-old Zaheer.
In an interview posted on YouTube today, the journalist asked tough questions to Zunaira about her previous interview with Dua Zehra, in which it can be seen that the YouTuber does not know the correct information of the Dua Zehra case or the provisions related to the case.
Zunaira said that she was not talking directly to Dua and her husband Zaheer but through police and lawyers during the interview.
Zunaira once said that only she, Dua and Zaheer were present in the room during the interview, while later she said that the shadows seen on the walls during the interview were of Zaheer's family members.
Moreover, during Dua’s interview, a bottle of Qarshi Jam-e-Shirin syrup was prominently displayed on the table, leading viewers to speculate that the video was sponsored by the brand.
However, Jam-e-Shirin today distanced itself from the interview, saying that it was not informed about the use of the drink before the interview was uploaded online.
Meanwhile, Dua Zahra's parents said that they have approached the Supreme Court and Zunaira will get a notice from the court soon.
