A petition demanding an investigation into ‘illegal’ payment of salaries to the members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Tiger Force by former prime minister Imran Khan and other ex-government officials has been filed in the Supreme Court.
Petitioner Asghar Ali Sheikh, a resident of Dadu, Sindh, made Imran Khan, former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed, former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry, PTI leaders Ali Zaidi and Haleem Adil Sheikh, and Federation of Pakistan respondents in the case.
In his petition, Asghar wrote that Imran Khan had recruited 1 million workers in his Tiger Force to use the same against his political rivals, adding that the PTI chairman has recently used the force against the incumbent government by way of announcing the “so-called long march”.
The petitioner wrote that he is worried about the current situation of the country, adding that there is apprehension of damage to the country’s reputation due to bad and unethical activities of the PTI leaders.
He also alleged that Rasheed used to pay salaries of Tiger Force members from accounts of different government departments.
The petition said that Imran had talked about the division of Pakistan into three parts during an interview earlier this month. The PTI leaders wanted to create anarchy in Pakistan as they issued threats that “the long march will be bloody”, the petition added.
He prayed the court to form a joint investigative team to probe the alleged illegal acts and requested the court to issue directions to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct an inquiry into the issuance of salaries to the Tiger Force by Imran Khan.
He also urged the court to restrain the PTI leaders from issuing threats of bloodshed among other threats to spread anarchy in the country.
