LUMS Graduate Shot By Robbers In Islamabad In Mobile-Snatching Incident
LUMS graduate and Foodpanda executive Qasim Awan, who was shot in a petty theft incident in Islamabad's F-9 three days ago, has succumbed to his injuries.

The incident took place on Sunday night in Islamabad's well-known F-9 area. Qasim, who was the only son of his two parents, was shot when robbers tried to mug him at a park in F-9.

He had done his undergraduate in Economics and his MBA from LUMS, and was now working as a business development manager for food delivery app Foodpanda.

Close friends of the deceased have been quoted as saying that while many of his batch-mates had left the country seeking better job prospects, he had decided to stay and work in Pakistan.

Following the incident he was shifted to PIMS Hospital in Islamabad, where he underwent three surgeries and numerous bottles of blood. Unfortunately, two days after being shot, Qasim succumbed to his wounds and passed away, leaving behind his parents and two sisters.

Social media has been flooded with condolences for the deceased, as well as rising concerns over the safety of well-populated public places such as the F-9 park, which is considered a relatively safer area. People are also questioning how they can be expected to use public spaces if there will be a fear of security.
