Money Laundering Case: FIA Hoping To Arrest PM Shehbaz, CM Hamza
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s counsel has told a special court in Lahore that the agency was seeking the arrest of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif in a money laundering case.

The counsel gave this remark today (Saturday) in response to a question put forward by presiding judge of the Special Court (Central-I) Ijaz Hassan Awan's about whether the FIA wanted to arrest the father-son duo in the case against them.

"As it is mentioned in the challan, we do require their arrest for further investigation," said the FIA prosecutor. Both Shehbaz and Hamza were present in the court room today.

The court reissued arrest warrants to be sent out to Suleman Shehbaz, Tahir Naqvi and Malik Maqsood, all three who are also involved in the case.

During the hearing, Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz (PMLN) counsel Amjad Pervez expressed to the court that the case was politically motivated, where party leaders were implicated in a forged case.

He also argued that the accused couldn't be tried for the same case being conducted in two separated courts, as this money laundering case is also being discussed at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

“The accused persons, when they were in jail, were investigated by the FIA. The previous government used all the state’s machinery against the accused when they were opposition leaders,” Pervez argued.

Shehbaz and Hamza's lawyer Amjad Pervez, argued back that the "suspects had been included in the investigation", and that "the FIA's lawyer is making a false statement".
