Railway Staff Gang-Rapes Woman Traveling To Multan
Three railway staff members reportedly gang-raped a woman traveling from Karachi to Multan on the privately-run Bahauddin Zakariya Express train service.

The perpetrators include two ticket-checkers, as well as their in-charge, who were staffed at the train service that operates between Multan and Karachi.

The woman has registered an FIR at the Karachi Police Station against the suspects, and has also recorded her statement with the police.

According to the FIR, the woman had been visiting her in-laws in Muzaffargarh and was traveling back to Karachi on a train run by the private sector when the unfortunate incident took place.

The report also mentioned that she resided in Orangi Town in Karachi, and had gotten divorced a month-and-a-half ago. She was traveling to Muzaffargarh to visit her children and had reached on May 26, returning to Karachi two days later via the Bahauddin Zakariya Express.

She was travelling in Economy class. When the train reached Rohri, a ticket-checker by the name of Zahid approached her and said he could help her move to the AC compartment and introduce her to his in-charge, Aqib.

The two men took her to the AC compartment, whereupon Zahid came and assaulted her. Shortly after, his in-charge Aqib came and raped her. After this, the second ticket-checker also came and assaulted the woman.

When she reached Karachi, the woman told the police about what had happened, however the perpetrators had fled by then.

The woman was taken to Jinnah Hospital where tests confirmed that she had been raped.

The police has initiated an investigation and has reached out to the railway service to find out details of the train staff.
