PTI MNA Alamgir Khan Booked For Wall Chalking 'Against State Institutions' In Karachi
Karachi police raided Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Alamgir Khan's house and booked him over 'provocative wall-chalking against state institutions' on Friday night in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city. Alamgir Khan had painted 'I am neutral' on the wall, along with spray-painted images of animals.

The PTI leader has been booked at Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on the complaint of SHO Ashraf Jogi, on charges of deliberately maligning state institutions and higher judiciary through wall-chalking and graffiti.

According to the complainant, the graffiti in question was seen while he was patrolling the area and came across offensive sketches on walls in the vicinity.

Ashraf Jogi also said he was forwarded a video and five pictures that showed Alamgir Khan spray painting the objectionable material onto walls in the city.

Thereby, a heavy contingent of police showed up in mobile units outside Alamgir's house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal block-7 late on Friday night, and began to raid the premises.

The police personnel questioned Alamgir's family members and house help about his whereabouts, but left after they were informed that he was not at home.

This led to some PTI leaders and party workers showing up outside Alamgir's residence to protest against the police raid.

According to PTI MPA Arsalan Taj, at least 25 mobiles showed up at the time of the raid. He also claimed that the police pushed Alamgir's house help out of the way to "barge inside" his house.

He also said that the day before the raid, "suspicious people" were seen poking around Alamgir's house, interrogating the house help.

PTI leaders have strongly condemned the act, and have filed a report about the suspicious activity around the house.

Alamgir Khan has also issued a video statement on Twitter, declaring that such tactics will not result in him abandoning Khan.

Alamgir Khan was amongst the PTI MNAs who submitted their resignations in the National Assembly. However, the verification required before a resignation can be accepted was not done, since apparently the lawmakers did not meet the National Assembly Speaker.
