Former speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq from the PML-N has called for the staff of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL), accusing them of corruption during the tenure of the previous government. According to Sadiq, NAB had ignored the wrong acts of the PTI government and targeted only their rivals.
“We were always sure of a nexus between Imran Khan and the NAB, and this connection proved true with time,” Sadiq said while speaking to the press. He also accused NAB officials of living beyond their means and called for an investigation into this.
Earlier this week, the PML-N’s Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had also said that the new government ought to disband the accountability watchdog which the PTI’s political opponents have accused of being used as a tool of political victimization during the previous government.
