Speaker Asad Qaiser Trades Barbs With A Federal Minister Over No-Trust Voting: Report
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser reportedly had an exchange of harsh words with a federal minister, when the latter told him to stand with Prime Minister Imran Khan. "I will follow the Constitution," the speaker was quoted as saying to the minister.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of the federal cabinet at 9.30 PM tonight -- suggesting that the government plans to further delay voting on the no-trust motion. The PTI has also submitted a reference to the speaker against its dissenting members. In its verdict, the Supreme Court had barred the government from stopping any members from casting their votes.

However, the opposition had earlier decided not to let dissident members cast their votes in order to keep the process uncontroversial, as their number game is complete even without the dissenters' support.

After the government's apparent plans to delay the proceedings of the assembly, it remains unclear if the voting on the no-confidence motion will take place as per the court's orders.

The government has also submitted a review petition before the Supreme Court, challenging the verdict in the deputy speaker ruling case.
